September saw a fire at Centennial Park field house. Repairs were made by city at no cost to Society.

October 1 was the Grand Opening of Westsyde Pool Sauna and Steam Room. W.C.D.S. was well represented – we provided 2 cakes for pool patrons and officials.

Executive members received vests with W.C.D.S. logo to enhance recognition at events. Magnetic name tags were added in May.

Robert  Kelly pursued a 1974 agreement with the city for Centennial Park improvements. A letter was sent to Byron McCorkell.

Robert  Kelly applied for a Community Matching Grant of $500.00 to be used for our Winter Carnival and  another grant of $450.00 for the Amazing Race He also applied for a  $500.00 grant from the United Way.  Thanks Robert.

Jacki Andersen organized our 2nd Fall Craft Fair Nov. 12. Tables were all booked in Sept and with the concession sales and raffle was a very lucrative event and  very well attended.
.
W.C.D.S. and Robert Kelly hosted a community meeting at the Hamlets for the Overwaitea group to unveil the Coopers Mall plans. Robert sent a letter to the Overwaitea Group and Tim Hortons to show community support for a Tim Horton’s outlet at the new mall.

At Dec. 1 meeting Brad Lebreque announced his resignation as President. Diane Kuchma will take on the role of Acting President until June elections.

The Executive Christmas Dinner was held on Dec. 17 at the Dunes Restaurant organized by Jacki Andersen.

Sunday Jan. 29 W.C.D.S. hosted our Winter Carnival at the Westsyde Pool. Free swim was provided by the City. We provided free hot dogs, juice, cake and kids games with prizes. Thanks to all the volunteers at this busy event.

April 28 & 29 brought about the 2nd annual Absolute Amazing Race. Corinna Douglas began work on this event in the fall revving it into full gear in January. Corinna, Brad, and Karen made up the central committee. Robert and Ted were the volunteer committee with Karen and Diane in charge of donations for the silent auction and door prizes. 22 Teams participated in the race with many volunteers. Wind up was held at the Dunes.

Jacki Andersen organized an S.PC.A. Craft Fair fundraiser May 12 at Westsyde Fellowship Church. She invited us to participate to promote W.C.D.S. which Steve Delaney volunteered to do. She also advertised the 1st annual Westsyde Garage Sale June 3.

A huge thanks to Jacki for all her hard work. The Westsyde Pride was written and produced by her hand for a number of years now and we know how much work is involved. The job has now been taken on by Steve Delaney and we are very grateful. Thanks also to Karen , Robert, Jacki, and Steve for their work to collect ad payments and have the pride self- sustaining.

Ted has continued to orchestrate the monthly Meat Draw. The Sept to April profit is $1454.00.
Our coffers bulge with your efforts.

Karen Kelly as Treasurer produced a budget for the year and our profits to go toward the waterpark have been invested in GIC’s.

Our quest has been to procure a new meeting room. With Corinna’s help the city has agreed to allow us to use the Activity Room at Westsyde Pool with no charge. Come Sept. our meetings will start at 6:30 P.M. the first Thursdays of each month, Sept. to June.
